Bernie had an ultrasound scan done today.
She was spayed at 8 months and now 3 years later she is on heat. Needless to say I was upset. The so called vet who spayed her was no longer in Ipoh.
So I went to her current vet, Dr Teoh a very nice and competent vet. He confirmed that Bernie was indeed on heat. However we had no way of knowing what the 'vet' did on her unless an ultrasound scan was done.
The scan showed that Bernie's uterus and ovary was removed but 1 ovary remained. That explained her being on heat. And it left me in a dilemma.
I didn't want her to have to go through that operation again. But I also get upset when dogs come to the house! So .... what to do?
I'm still thinking...
BTW what made me more upset was finding out that the so called vet was not a vet at all. This Inidan man was hired by the 'real' Chinese vet at his vet shop to help because the Chinese vet was busy with his 'other' business!!! This industry needs to be regulated in this country!

We just took our dog to a 2nd vet today and found out the same thing. Our initial vet is still in business. What to do?
Dear Doug, if you mean what to do about the 1st vet; well I didn't do anything because he had left town. In Malaysia there really isn't much you can do i don't think. I don't know if they are registered like medical doctors and have a code of ethics to follow and you can post a complaint if you want.
Well, Bernie had that re-spay done and she is ok now. The vet said that he couldn't really remove all the cells because they were all over the place, so he "lasered' them instead and it had worked before for other dogs he did.
Let me revise that 'Bernie is ok now'....Bernie is on heat again. It started about 1 month back. So that re-spay didn't work after all. And I have to be extra careful during the time that she is.
Oh no...I think we are going through the same thing, but our was a rescue dog that we know none of the history of. They did a hormone test this weekend but my vet doesnt have an ultra-sound. I was told it was really hard to do a re-spay because it is hard to find everything. I have a St Bernard so that adds to the fun since she is so big.
Did you have it done a 3rd time or are you just dealing with it? This makes me worried now. I can't afford much more of this.
Hi Dorothy, after 2nd spay & on heat, Bernie seems to be fine now. She doesn't bleed anymore, she has some interest in the 'guys' and vice versa but it leads to nothing.
So no, I didn't do a 3rd re-spay and I don't think I would have either.
